Traveling to Mayan Ruins

The trip that Kyle Thomas Glasser took around 2010 to countries such as Costa Rica and Nicaragua was actually a revelation for him to study more about some cultures of the western countries. Mexico as a country was particularly very important to him because of its popular historic site of the Mayan Ruins. The Mayans are reputed as the best ever known classical civilizations of Mesoamerica. They are known for developing astronomy, hieroglyphic writing and calendrical systems. They had an outstanding elaborate and well-decorated cultural architecture that in included things like temple pyramids, observatories and magnificent palaces that were built without the use of a single iron tool.

The Mayan Impact on Education – As a medical student dealing with many different subjects, he is quick to note the Mayans creation of concept zero, which is not just important for math but very significant to astronomic studies as well. “Imagine a math class without the use of zero?” he was quoted saying in one of his talks. Some of the math and sciences classes he has enjoyed so far have had great contributions from the Mayan zero concept. He is so glad the Mayans in the present day Mexico once existed.

Mayan Architecture and Art – Most Mayan buildings have astronomical orientations. It is also very interesting to note that their temples are similar to pyramids. Limestone structures that were more often than not faced with lime stucco were very predominant in the Maya culture. Kyle would not want to miss several awesome places on travel to Mexico.  One such place is Yucatan. It is one of the states that value the Mayan culture, but it has many modern hotels and big resorts. He would like to visit Chichen Itza, which is a very big pre-historic Mayan town situated in the city of Yucatan, between Merida and Valladolid in the Yucatan Peninsula.

Riviera Maya in Mexico is another perfect place for vacation especially after a long school semester. Stunning beautiful beaches and the Mayan Pyramids provide good scenery to any visitor. The unspoiled nature of Costa Maya is definitely an attraction that could leave any visitor speechless. The coast consists of about 45 km crystal clear Caribbean Mexican Sea sweeping through the shores of Costa Maya. The beaches have exceptional warm and soft sands. Cancun Mexico would be another great place of hanging out. It is located between Quintana Roo and the Yucatan Peninsula. His Mexican travel would not be complete without paying a visit to Isla Mujeres.
